The Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly (CG), on July 14, 2026, introduced the Chhattisgarh Private Universities (Establishment and Operation) (Amendment) Bill, 2026 to amend the Chhattisgarh Private Universities (Establishment and Operation) Act, 2005. According to the Statement of Objects and Reasons, the amendments seek to align the State law with UGC recommendations, including revised norms on minimum land requirements for establishing universities and strengthening governance and financial safeguards for private universities. The proposed amendments are intended to improve the regulatory framework while ensuring continuity of academic activities and protection of students' interests.
